Pageant for women with disabilities seeks contestants
The annual Ms. Wheelchair North Carolina pageant will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Asheville on April 6. A nonprofit advocacy and activism organization, the pageant is currently asking for contestants to apply.
The pageant acts as a showcase for women utilizing wheelchairs on a daily basis for their mobility. Contestants will be judged on they have accomplished and achieve on a personal level since they became disabled, their ability to communicate, and their level of participation in peer and civic groups. Public relation skills, advocacy for the disabled, self-confidence, motivation, initiative and creativity will also be taken into account during judging.

The pageant winner will act as the official spokeswoman for the disability community at the state level and go on to compete in the national pageant.
