Recent outreach center activities include lazer tag, toy drive
The House of Jabez’ Men of Valor Young Men’s Fellowship conducted its annual meeting Feb. 2 at Adventure Island. A group of 14 boys attended the gathering to play lazer tag and other games. The group ate lunch at Pizza Inn afterward.
Back on Dec. 22, the House of Jabez Youth Outreach Center hosted a toy drive at Platinum Cuts Barbershop in Henderson. What was intended as a standard toy drive turned into a Mega Giveaway due to the amount of support to the effort given by the barbershop, Warrenton Furniture Exchange, as well as other local vendors and area churches. In addition to more than 100 toys, other items that were given away included: food items, clothes (for men, women and children), coats and shoes.
Any local residents interested in signing up their sons (from grades 6-8) up for this program should contact Antoine Hargrove, CEO of the outreach center. The next meeting will take place March 9. For more information, call Hargrove at (919) 397-5339 or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The outreach center welcomes volunteers and supporters for upcoming events. To receive support, contact Hargrove as above or send a letter to THJ Youth Outreach Center, P.O. BOX 964, Norlina, NC 27563.
