On Feb. 9, Pastor Dorothy Hunt, executive director of Lifeline Outreach, awarded the team from M. R. Williams a plaque for first place for best design in the shelter decorating contest at the end of last year. The team was comprised of members Tina Burnett, Ralph C. Christopher, the Rev. Billy T. Davis and Dr. Dwayne Reece.

Coming in second place was Staples, whose members decorated a bedroom containing five beds.

To commemorate their efforts, Lifeline Outreach also placed a plaque on each door for the organization or church that designed each room. The residents who voted had difficulty choosing the ultimate winner: as a result, Hunt decided that all of the participants of the contest would receive a dinner for their service. Other participants included Classy Ladies and First Presbyterian Church.

Lifeline Outreach welcomes organizations interested in designing a room for the residents of one of its two shelters. Contributions of carpet, paint and other items are needed to finish these projects.
