Daisette Youth Garden Club gathers for January meeting
The Daisette Youth Garden Club gathered for their monthly meeting on Jan. 10.
Navin Chavis read “Prayers Can’t Be Answered Unless They are Prayed” from the book, “Loving Promises,” by Helen Steiner Rise, followed by a group recital of “A Garden Club Prayer” for devotion.
Nyasia Miller, club president, conducted the business session.
The members in attendance each reported their grades, as well as any scholastic achievements they has received recently.
Then, Myesha Miller presented a workshop on “Decorating Baskets.” Each youth had a different kind of basket: she showed them how to make the basket attractive by using different several colored ribbons, lace and netting. The baskets will be filled with miscellaneous items and will later be presented to senior citizens who are sick and shut in.
After the workshop, Edith Caroll talked about the firepower nandina arrangements she had made. This shrub is known for its lime green leaves and the brilliant red color it displays during the fall. The plant is a very compact bush and grows well in either direct or partial sunlight.
Near the end of the meeting, the group sang “Happy Birthday” to Shea Jones. The meeting adjourned with the group repeating the Youth Pledge.
