Regional SERTOMA convention recognizes local Serteen club

During the recent SERTOMA Regional Convention held in Clemmons, the Jubilee Serteen Club were recognized twice for their efforts.

First, for its member’s service to their community and schools, the Doug Council District honored the club with the title of 2011/2012 District Serteen Club of the Year. In addition, they were also named the Atlantic Coast REGION Serteen Club of the Year.

In service of mankind, the club, consisting of youth ages 9-11, look to contribute their time and energy to the community, promote good citizenship and democracy. Projects undertaken by members in the past range from volunteer work and gardening to the donation of canned food, toys and school supplies to organizations in need.

Meeting once a month at Red Bud Church for fellowship, and to evaluate and plan community activities, members are always seeking opportunities to perform community service.

Vivian L. Bullock and Dorothy Perry, members of the Jubilee Sertoma Club, which sponsors the Jubilee Serteen Club, advise the youth.
