Scholarship recipients to be honored at luncheon today

Apr. 12, 2013 @ 10:11 PM

A pair of East Carolina University students from Henderson will receive scholarships from the East Carolina Alumni Association.

Sarah Morgan Hunter, a senior majoring in business administration, and Steven Fitzgerald Branch, a junior, studying accounting, are among the 23 recipients of alumni scholarships for the 2013-2014 academic year. All of the recipients will be honored during the annual scholarship luncheon to be held today at Murphy Center in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium on the college campus in Greenville.

Every spring, between 20-25 students are chosen by the association for scholarship to be used for the following school year. Full-time undergraduates with a minimum GPA of 3.0 who have demonstrated both community and campus leadership and volunteerism are eligible for these scholarships. Ranging in value from $1,000 to $2,500, some of these scholarships may be awarded in honor or memory of an individual alumnus; a regional chapter or affinity group may give them out as well.

Informing, involving and serving members by providing programs and services to ECU members and alumni is the goal of the association.
