The Granville Cluckers, a 4-H club that focuses on poultry, met Aug. 10 in the conference room of the Granville County Extension Center.

The meeting began with all members pledging allegiance to the U.S. flag and then repeating the 4-H pledge.

First on the agenda was the election of officers. After electing Ethan Clausen president, continued ties resulted in Timothy Byrd and Travis Harvey both being named to the vice president post. Abby Holsombach was elected secretary.

Five new members joined at the August meeting: Cheyenne and Savannah Brogden, Ethan and Emma Clausen and Carson Reese, bringing the roster to 14 members.

The special guest at the meeting was Bernie the rooster, brought by volunteer leader Bette Laursen. Bernie provided the activity of the meeting, which was to identify his breed. He was correctly identified as a silver leghorn.

The Cluckers decided to meet regularly on the second Monday of each month at 4:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Granville County Extension Center. Meetings will be open to all young people between 8 and 18 years old. Owning chickens is not required to attend.

The club’s next Sept. 8. The Brogdens are scheduled to bring chickens to the meeting.
