Plank Chapel introduces free fitness classes

Plank Chapel United Methodist Church recently introduced a series of free physical fitness classes.

The classes, which began in September, are conducted in the fellowship hall of the church by Leo Roy, certified life coach and American Council on Exercise certified personal trainer.

Roy retired from the U.S. Marine Corps and is currently employed as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant at the Franklin Oaks Skilled Nursing Facility in Louisburg.

Classes meet on Sunday and Wednesday nights and are open to men and women, regardless of age, denomination or membership.

Sunday night classes begin at 7 p.m. and last for one hour.

Wednesday night classes begin at 5:30 p.m. with 30 minutes of exercise, followed by a 30 minute discussion, followed by an additional 30 minutes of exercise.

The Wednesday night schedule is set up to allow participants to choose a class time of 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., 6 to 7 p.m. or 5:30 to 7 p.m.
