College offers computer building and repairs course
Registration is open at Vance-Granville Community College for a course entitled, “PC Maintenance and Repair.”
The course will be from Oct. 31 to Feb. 6.
Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. in room 7107 on the college’s main campus in Vance County.
Mitch Evans, the college’s director of information technology, will be the course instructor.
Topics covered will include networking, printer sharing, file sharing and installation of add-on hardware and software. Evans will include tips for finding and removing virus information, spyware and ad-ware.
Students will completely build and assemble a PC during the class. They will also receive hands-on experience in system recovery and system restoration operations.
The registration fee is $180. An additional $7 will go toward other college fees.
Space is limited to 14 students.
The deadline to register and pay for the course is Oct. 28.
