St. Andrews holds youth workshop
St. Andrews Christian Church in Henderson recently sponsored a youth and teen workshop entitled “No Turning Back - Moving Forward.”
More than 50 youth attended the workshop.
Minister Vanessa Hicks of God’s House of Prayer gave a devotion.
Afterward, attending youth heard presentations from Greg Thorpe of the Henderson Police Department, Kim Butler of the Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, Harold Davis of the C.A. Dillon Youth center and William Hawkins of Vance County Schools.
Their presentations covered a variety of topics, including gang violence and awareness, teen pregnancy, negative and positive peer pressure, school attendance and the consequences of negative and positive behavior.
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants were treated to a spaghetti lunch.
The workshop was organized by Minister Rowena Hicks and the St. Andrews Christian Church Youth Department.
