Recycling event to be April 26
The first Henderson-Vance Recycling Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 26 in the front parking lot of the city operations center on Beckford Drive in Henderson.
The event will mark the closing of the Henderson-Vance Spring Litter Sweep Week from April 21 to April 26.
Items will be collected free of charge at the event by various vendors. The vendors will include Metech Recycling, accepting electronic items; Waste Industries, accepting household recyclables; C.J. Iron and Metal, accepting aluminum and machine parts; The Salvation Army, accepting clothing, shoes and toys; Local Government Federal Credit Union, accepting sensitive documents for shredding; and Rebuilding Hope, accepting items that can be used in home repair and construction.
There will also be information vendors at the event, including the Vance County Sheriff’s Office, the Henderson Police Department, the Henderson-Vance Safe Kids Coalition, the Vance County Cooperative Extension, the Kerr-Tar Council of Governments, the Henderson Community Appearance Commission and the Vance County Appearance Commission.
