Don’t have a cow, Smart Start! Citizens ‘post bail’ for fundraiser
This year, on April 18, Franklin-Granville-Vance Smart Start conducted its annual fundraiser, Time Out Thursday, at Chick-fil-A of Henderson.
Several local citizens volunteered to be “detained” for an hour apiece and collect enough money in donations so that they could afford “bail.” In total, more than $3,000 was raised, all of which will go toward Smart Start programs for local children.
Those agreeing to be “incarcerated” at the restaurant during this event included: John Barnes, Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce; Ruth Hartness, Vance County School Board; James Kearney, Henderson City Council; Frank Sossamon, South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church; and Jay Stephens, Perry Memorial Library.
