Bullock named Pride of Vance Elk of the Year

Pride Vance Elks Lodge No. 1263 recently held its annual Christmas Awards Dance. The dance was took place Dec. 24 at the lodge. The chairman and co-chairman of the dance were Teldron Allen and Cedric L. Hinton, respectively. This event was organized to honor the members of the lodge and to show appreciation for the social clubs, motorcycle club and individuals who gave their patronage to the lodge during 2012.

E. Jameel Williams, exalted ruler, presented the awards, assisted by Teldron Allen and Cedric Hinton. Members present received a certificate of appreciation for their devoted service to the lodge for 2012. A perfect attendance awards was given to Ronald Lowery, he did not miss a single meeting during 2012. Williams also presented his annual President’s Award to Erskine L. Hawkins, state president for the North Carolina State Association and lodge esquire. His award was accepted by J. Hawkins, due to Erskine’s absence. J. Hawkins received the Most Admired Brother Award from the Exalted Ruler Williams.

Williams also presented certificates of appreciation to the following clubs for having their function at the lodge during the past year: Pure Elegance, Red Velvet, Green Velvet, Shades, Mystic Ladies, Most Wanted Divas, Strictly Divas, Badd Boyz and Lady Badd Boyz Social clubs and others.

The highlight of the evening was the annual awarding of the Elk of the Year for 2012. This year’s recipient was Johnny Bullock. Bullock has been a member of the lodge for three years now and stills serves as a trustee. He is a member of Mount Zion Christian Church, where he served on the usher board. He is a member of the Badd Boyz and Lady Badd Boyz Social Club, where he serves as special assistant to the business manager. He is the son of Evelyn Brame and has one adult son, Jermaine Bullock. When presenting the award, Williams referred to Bullock as his right hand man.
