With Arbor Day, April 10, approaching, the nonprofit Arbor Day Foundation is offering to ship 10 free trees to new members who join before the end of the month.

The $10 membership will also include a subscription to the foundation’s bi-monthly publication, “Arbor Day,” and “The Tree Book,” a book about planting and caring for trees.

The trees are part of the foundation’s Trees for America campaign.

Each new member will receive two Sargent crabapple, three American redbud, two Washington hawhorn and three white flowering dogwood trees. They will be shipped postpaid with instructions between Feb. 1 and May 31, the prime period for planting the trees.

The trees will arrive at six to 12 inches tall.

If they do not grow they will be replaced free of charge.

To join the foundation, visit arborday.org/January or send a $10 membership fee to Ten Flowering Trees, Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Ave., Nebraska City, NE 64810, by Jan. 31.
