Garden club celebrates 60 years
A plant exchange and a trip down memory lane were the highlights of the Colonial Garden Club’s February meeting.
Joyce Odom, the club’s historian and former president, hosted the meeting in her Lakeview Drive home.
During the program, members browsed archives covering 60 years of the club’s history. The archives included documents, photos and other items going back to the group’s formation in 1953.
Prior to the program, club members exchanged floral specimens and provided information on their care.
Judy Parrish, club president, reminded the group of its spring activities and projects, including a session to design table arrangements at the Vance County Senior Center on Garnett Street.
In addition, Jane Baker, the club chaplain, offered inspirational thoughts and lessons.
Odom served a desert course.
The club’s March meeting took place in the home of Catherine Frazier, club secretary.
