Tips from the Vance County Parenting Task Force
Take charge of watching television!
Studies reveal that children who are exposed to a steady diet of violent programs increase their chances of becoming aggressive and less willing to cooperate with others. Limit “how much” and “what” they watch.
Watch television with your children and discuss what you have seen. Let your children know your opinion and your values. Also, listen to theirs.
Discuss why what they saw was good, bad, real or fantasy and talk about the consequences that might result from such actions.
