David Cobbs Jr., a student at Vance County Early College High School, recently spent time at the N.C. House of Representatives, serving as a page. He was sponsored by Nathan Baskerville, N.C. Rep-D (Vance County, Warren County).

His duties consisted of delivering bills and amendments for representative during the daily House sessions and committee meetings, lending his assistance to the offices of individual representatives and running other errands around the Legislature. Like other pages, he spent a week assisting members and staff at the General Assembly while learning about the structure of state government.

While the General Assembly is in session, high school students (grades 9-12) statewide serve as pages. Thom Tillis, N.C. Rep-R (Mecklenburg County) personally appoints them and introduces them to members and citizens in the House gallery at the start of each week during Monday night’s session.

He is the son of David and Marcia Cobbs of Henderson.
