Locals to compete for Miss Jabberwock, Little Miss Jabberwock 2013

Saturday, at 7 p.m., at Franklinton High School, 910 Cedar Creek Road, the Oxford-Henderson alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will conduct its 60th Jabberwock Extravaganza. This year’s theme will be “100 Years Strong,” in celebration of the sorority’s 100 years of existence.

Admission will cost $10. The public is invited to attend.

Participants will showcase their many talents. Attendees can expect praise dancing, poetry recitals, singing and more. In addition, Miss Jabberwock and Little Miss Jabberwock queens from previous years will be recognized.

This year’s Miss Jabberwock title will be contested by:

• Taylor D. Evans (junior, Northern Vance High School, Henderson; parents - Taylor and Cassandra Evans).

• Whitley Fuller (senior, Warren Early College High School, Warrenton; parents - Willie and Patrina Fuller).

• Ayonna M. Thornton (senior, J.F. Webb High School, Oxford; parents - Thornton and Jason Johnson).

Competing for the title of Little Miss Jabberwock 2013 is:

• Alaina F. Bullock (first grade, Aycock Elementary School, Henderson; parents - Towyna and Reba Bullock).

Over the years, the pageant has acted as a fundraiser for the chapter, producing several scholarship and civic awards from the proceeds.
