Talk to your children about ways to avoid gangs.

Tell them not to associate with gang members or hang out where they do; not to attend any party sponsored by gangs; not to use any kind of hand or finger signs meaningful to gangs; and not to wear clothing that may have meaning to area gangs.

Get to know your children’s friends and their parents.

Talk to your children about ways to deal with pressure from friends.

Set firm limits with your children and teens.

Plan family time.
