A free, day long back-to-school event for parents and students in the Wake County Public School System will be held Aug. 16, at Martin Street Baptist Church.
Workshops, which will be held throughout the day, will offer information on academic success, special education services, discipline/suspension, school police, and how to be a strong advocate for your child.
A catered lunch is included, along with free childcare for children ages 3-11 and interpretation services for Spanish-speaking parents.
The event is offered by the Push Out Prevention Project of Advocates for Children’s Services, a statewide project of Legal Aid of North Carolina, with the assistance of Education Justice Alliance, NC HEAT (Heroes Emerging Among Teens) and other members of the community.
