Warbird Fly-in on tap for Saturday
The 95th Squadron Radio Control Model Aircraft Club will hold its fifth annual Warbird Fly-in event this Saturday at the club’s flying field in Gaston.
Radio control pilots from North Carolina and Virginia will demonstrate their flying skills throughout the day with a focus on models representing all eras of war-time aircraft.
Flying will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m.
Lunch and refreshments will be available on site.
A candy drop for youth will be held, and a trainer will be on-site offering the public a chance to try out radio controlled flight.
Raffle tickets will be on sale for an electric P-47 Thunderbolt, commonly known as the “Jug,” along with a radio transmitter. The winner will receive help with assembling and flying the plane at the field.
Fans will have the opportunity to view the planes up close and talk with the owners.
The event is free and open to the public.
