SEMAA closes fall session with fly-in, registration open for winter

Warren County NASA Science Engineering Mathematics Aerospace Academy students recently celebrated the end of the academy’s 2013 fall academic session with a fly-in at the Oxford-Henderson Airport.

The flights were provided by EAA Young Eagles Pilots Barrett Johnson, Bob Epting, Jim Dukeman, David Williams, Jan Squillage, Sledd Thomas and Richard White.

Support on the ground was provided by Sandy Dukeman, Tammy Hutto, Leroy Walker, Jim Patterson, Phil Harding, Oxford-Henderson Airport manager Mike Kellogg and Stanley Brothers.

The students also received certificates and awards for the session at the event.

Registration is open for the academy’s 2014 winter session, which is free to students in grades K-12 in Vance, Warren, Granville, Franklin and surrounding counties, including those in southern Virginia.

The eight-week session is scheduled to begin Jan. 18 for grades 3-12 and Feb. 8 for grades K-2.

Classes meet on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon at Warren County High School.
