Garden club to hold ‘Halloween Bash’

Oct. 25, 2013 @ 09:32 AM

The Granville Gardeners will hold a “Halloween Bash” on Monday at 7 p.m. at the Granville County Extension Office on Wall Street in Oxford.

Attendees should wear garden-themed costumes and will have the opportunity to win a prize.

There will be a social hour with refreshments and “treats.”

Dale Batchelor will present a program entitled, “Doing Less and Getting More: Creating a Sustainable Landscape.”

The program will highlight ways to eliminate the use of pesticides, increase the number and variety of native plants and manage rainwater to create a healthy and functional ecosystem.

Batchelor will share conservation principles and provide examples from her garden, as well as those of her clients. She and her husband have turned their property into a Certified National Wildlife Federation Habitat. When designing, she considers surrounding plants and animals in addition to the site’s physical characteristics.

The meeting is open to the public.
