DMV to offer express services at state fair
The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles will return to the fair after an absence of five years.
Staff and DMV inspectors from the License and Theft Bureau will help provide security at the fair and operate an information booth daily at the Kerr Scott Building.
The mobile unit will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, between the Jim Graham Building and the Dorton Arena.
From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, the unit will offer to fairgoers the opportunity to renew their driver's licenses so long as a written or road test is not required.
Duplicates to replace lost or damaged driver's licenses may be ordered at the fair for mail delivery.
Identification cards for children and adults can also be ordered. The cost is $10.
The mobile unit will also make state maps and driver handbooks available.
Those ordering identification cards should bring any necessary documents. First time applicants will need to provide proof of their full name and date of birth, along with their Social Security card and proof of residency in North Carolina. A full list of acceptable documents is available at ncdot.gov/dmv.
