Vance-Granville Community College recently hosted an American Red Cross blood drive on its Vance County campus.

The event was coordinated by Tessa Egan, a current student at the college.

As coordinator, her tasks included scheduling donors, advertising the drive and preparing locations to register donors and hold the drive.

For her efforts, Egan is now eligible for a scholarship opportunity from the American Red Cross.

She is scheduled to graduate from Vance-Granville’s associate degree nursing program in May 2015 and plans to continue her education.

Twenty-four units of blood were collected during the drive.
