Granville Gardeners taking art contest submissions

Submissions for the Granville Gardeners’ first garden art contest are due between 3 and 7 p.m. Oct. 15 at Thornton Library in Oxford.

Photographers and artists highschool age and up from Granville and Vance counties are eligible.

Contest categories are watercolor, oils, acrylics, mixed media, sketching and drawings.

Art content may include garden landscapes, seasonal gardens, people in gardens, wildlife, animals, insects, plants and spontaneous moments that are quirky, fun, surprising or unexpected.

There is a $15 entry fee, which covers up to three entries.

Entries will be on display in the library from Nov. 14-29.

The first place winner will receive $100 and a banquet ticket to the Granville Gardeners installation dinner on Dec. 9. Second place will receive $50 and a banquet ticket and third will receive a banquet ticket.

Ribbons will be given out for honorable mentions.
