Volunteers are needed for the AARP Foundation’s Tax-Aide program.

An orientation meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the Vance County Senior Center for those interested.

The Tax-Aide program provides free federal and state personal income tax preparation with e-filing to low and moderate income residents in Vance County, many of whom cannot afford to pay a traditional tax preparer or to buy software.

Volunteers are trained and IRS-certified each year to ensure their knowledge of changes and revisions to the U.S. tax code.

The program, in partnership with the Vance County Senior Center, has provided free services to Vance County residents for over five years. More than 200 were helped last year.

Contact the Vance County Senior Center at (252) 430-0257 for more information.
