L.B. Yancey students learn science hands-on
Students at L.B. Yancey Elementary School recently participated in Scientist Day at the school.
The day is part of the school’s emphasis on using STEM program strategies to increase learning through hands-on, project-based experience.
Students participated in various projects in the classroom and also made projects at home.
School projects included erupting clay volcanoes; bird feeders made of pine cones, peanut butter and seeds; and homemade colored “goo.”
Athletes and cheerleaders from Southern Vance High School provided assistance in each classroom during the day.
