Duke Energy helps fund training center at college
The Duke Energy Foundation recently announced it would award $245,923 to Vance-Granville Community College to help equip a new advanced manufacturing skills center at the college.
The funds will be used to purchase industrial-grade equipment such as electrical motor control trainers, programmable logic control trainers, hydraulic and pneumatic trainers, and photovoltaic trainers to help train area residents for jobs in manufacturing and related industries.
Duke Energy recently invested $6.7 million in community colleges within the company’s service area.
Community colleges can apply for funds through the Foundation for the Carolinas or the N.C. Community Foundation.
Applications are reviewed by a committee of representatives from Duke Energy. the N.C. Community College System and the N.C. Department of Commerce.
