Free workshops for seniors to address disease, disabilities

Jul. 30, 2014 @ 10:45 AM

The Kerr-Tar Area Agency on Aging is offering a series of free workshops to help seniors manage symptoms of chronic disease and disability and take control of their health.

The workshops will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon once per week starting Aug. 20 and ending Sept. 24.

They are open to seniors 60 years of age and older who have a disability or ongoing health condition such as diabetes, arthritis or heart disease.

In addition to symptom management, meeting topics will include fighting fatigue, effective communication, dealing with frustration, building confidence and making daily tasks easier.

All meetings will be held at The Church of the Holy Innocents in Henderson.

Space is limited, and the deadline to register is Aug. 18.

For more information or to register for the series, call Sheila Brown at (252) 436-2040.
