College offers physical therapy aide training
Vance-Granville Community College is currently registering students for physical therapy aide training. The course will be offered Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-9 p.m., starting Jan. 22 and running through May 9. Classes will take place in Building 5, Room 5218, on the main campus in Vance County.
Students will be given an overview of the profession. The course touches upon topics such as physical therapy roles, practice setting, the American Physical Therapy Association, laws and policies, regulations and more. Medical terminology, patient charts, musculoskeletal anatomy, thermal and electrical modalities, ambulating techniques, spine safety, range of motion exercises, strengthening and cardiovascular exercise, massage, facility cleanliness, interpersonal skills, and ethics will all be covered.
Amanda Forsythe will be the instructor for this course.
A registration fee of $175, plus $7 in other college fees, is included in the cost.
