Children at the child care center on Vance-Granville Community College’s main campus received a visit from some of the school’s student-athletes in December.

The students engaged the children of all the classes at the center in several activities, including reading them books with winter and holiday themes, such as “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and Clifford the Big Red Dog’s “The Little Red Sled.”

Among those participating from the Vanguards men’s basketball team were Josh Coles of Danville, Va., Josh Bethel of Durham, Jordan Bunting of Rocky Mount, Larry Mote of Henderson (originally of Newark, N.J.), Khadier Fulcher of Oxford, Micah Stokes of Henderson and Chris Gray of Graham; and Veronica Papandrea and Riley Frazier, both of Durham.

The child care center at the college serves children from ages one to four

All student-athletes at the college are required to participate in service projects and community activities such as this one.
