A retirement celebration was held in honor of E.O. Young Elementary retiree Dr. Adrienne Morton and the soon-to-be retired Nancy Wortham, on June 7, in the fellowship hall of Middleburg Baptist Church.

Morton worked at the school for a total of 24 years, serving the last 14 as school principal. Wortham has been an educator for 34 years, 18 of which were spent at the school.

Former superintendent Wayne Adcock served as master of ceremonies for the celebration, leading a long line of people (including veteran educators Robin Bowen and Jennifer Tucker, current and former staff members and family) making comments about both retirees.

Morton’s husband, Woody, spoke about his wife’s dedication to educating children. Wortham’s son, Nick, let her know that in her retirement he wants her to devote more attention to herself.

Both Morton and Wortham plan to return to the school as volunteers.
