Roy featured speaker at senior circle meeting
The Plank Chapel United Methodist Church Senior Circle recently met in the fellowship hall of the church.
After president Faye Woodlief called the meeting to order, Pastor Carolyn Roy gave a devotion about gratitude for the sacrifices of others, linking the devotion with Memorial Day.
Leo Roy, a retired marine, presented a program on the Rolling Thunder Organization, which is dedicated to the search for soldiers that are missing in action or prisoners of war. He spoke about a recent demonstration sponsored by the organization in Washington, D.C., during which thousands of motorcycle riders rode through the city to call attention to missing members of the country’s armed forces. Roy participated in the rally. He also spoke about candlelight vigils held in memory of missing soldiers, and offered ways to help veterans.
Following the program, a light lunch was served.
