College offering computer courses
Registration is open for two evening computer courses at the Vance-Granville Community College Warren County campus in Warrenton.
The first, a course on Microsoft Word and Excel 2010 software, will be held July 7 to July 30, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. The course will offer students the chance to become familiar with the most recent versions of two of the most widely used software programs in the workforce.
The second, a beginner’s guide to computers course, will be held July 8 to July 31, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students will explore the Windows 7 operating system and receive an introduction to the common components and uses of personal computers. Topics will include basic file management; how to create, edit and save a document; how to utilize built-in Windows accessories; and how to move and copy data. The course will also involve use of the Internet and common search tools.
Jessica Harvey, an instructor for the college’s office administration curriculum program, will teach both courses.
The cost of each course is $77, and the deadline to register for both is July 1.
Prospective students can register and pay for the courses online at vgcc.edu/oex or at any Vance-Granville campus from 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays.
