Daisy Garden Club meets for May
The Daisy Garden Club met May 19 at the home of Naomi Dixon.
Dixon and her daughter Sandra served as hostesses.
Velma Steed led the devotion. The group sang the club song and repeated Psalm 23 in unison. Then, Steed read the poem “The Language of Love” by Catherine Janssen Irwin and offered prayer. Edna Hargrove gave a reading of “The Grocery List.”
Club president Barbara Carroll conducted the business session, during which an update was given on the state garden club convention, which will be held in Greensboro.
For the program, Edith Carroll conducted a workshop on recycling greeting cards. Each person received a picture frame and a greeting card with flowers on it. The cards were then cut to fit the frames. After completing the workshop, the group toured Dixon’s flower garden.
Veronica Palmer and Roscoe Hargrove were both welcomed as new club members during the meeting, and Shirlene Brown was welcomed as a returning member.
The special guest was Sharon Marshall, a former member.
The group sang “Happy Birthday” to Edith Hare.
Henry Floyd blessed the food, and Patricia Holt thanked the hostesses.
