Tips from the Vance County Parenting Task Force

Kids thrive on routine
May. 19, 2014 @ 11:15 AM

Routines work best with consistent timing.

For instance, clearing the table should be done right after eating. Trash should be taken out immediately after the kitchen is cleaned up. The bed should be made right after dressing.

The more you develop these routines, the less reminding you will have to do.

Reminders become brief statements such as, “trash time.” With more than one child you can rotate chores. Visual reminders help kids stay on track. A poster, chart or job board can help kids stay focused.
