Warren County Animal Ark: Fundraising for Friendly Forest to take place at ‘Celebrating Animals’ event
Once again, the “Celebrating Animals’ event, hosted by the Warren County Animal Ark, will take place at the Warren County Animal Shelter, 142 Rafters Lane, Warrenton, on Saturday, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
This free event will feature a half-price adoptathon; live music by One Desire; food, games; pet wall painting; Reading to Cleo; demonstrations on pet grooming, dog obedience, and Chief Lane and Sennec (of the K-9 unit); and Keats Point Farm and Wildwood Learning Farm.
Fundraising will be a big part of this year’s event, and will be conducted for both the animals and the enhancement of a “Friendly Forest” on the grounds of the facility.
Perimeter fencing around the back of the shelter was recently completed. Land which slopes down toward a creek has been neglected for years. Funds will be used to transform it into a public visiting area. Scrub will be cleared out to make room for benches and to allow dog owners to walk their pets. Efforts will be made to conserve native plants. During the celebration, children will be allowed to plants seeds on the grounds.
The public is invited to attend. For more information, call Elma Rae Greene, Warren County Animal Control director, at (252) 257-6137.
