Bypass of untreated wastewater reported at Rowland’s Pond

From Monday, at 8:40 p.m., to Tuesday, at 2:30 a.m., the City of Henderson reported the bypass of approximately 7,000 gallons of untreated wastewater from the city’s Sandy Creek Sewage Pumping Station at Rowland’s Pond, 482 Rock Mill Road. The bypass was the result 3.3 inches of rainfall, causing heavy inflow and infiltration.

Sandy Creek is a tributary of the Tar Pamlico River Basin. Currently, the city is working in the basin to reduce inflow and infiltration entering the lines. No environmental damage was reported.
