The Triangle North Healthcare Foundation recently approved more than $175,000 in funding for 10 grants that will impact the health and wellness of individuals in Vance, Warren, Granville and Franklin counties.

Grants were approved by the foundation for projects that meet criteria related to chronic disease prevention, reproductive health, nutrition, physical fitness, mental health, substance abuse and success in school as it relates to health and wellness.

Funding for the grants is supplied by the endowment that was established after the merger of Maria Parham Medical Center with the for-profit Duke LifePoint Healthcare.

Triangle North plans to offer a second round of grant opportunities in 2014. Due dates for letters of interest will be announced in January.
