Glen Raven, a manufacturer in Warren County, was recently selected to receive an E3 scholarship through N.C. State University’s Industrial Extension Service.

The scholarship will support professional assessments that will help Glen Raven improve efficiency and control energy costs, thereby saving money and becoming more sustainable.

E3 North Carolina is a federal and state supported initiative to create more competitive and sustainable manufacturers initially developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Commerce in 2008. The three E’s stand for “economy,” “energy,” and the “environment.” The initiative leverages resources from federal, state and local experts, including private industry partners.

E3 relies heavily on teams of local partners to conduct assessments, present recommendations on how to attain sustainability goals and track progress. The Warren County team members include Vance-Granville Community College, the Warren County Economic Development Commission and the Kerr-Tar Workforce Development Board.

The scholarship was awarded to Glen Raven based on recommendations by partnering organizations, including Vance-Granville Community College.
