College offers free GED preparation classes
The Adult Basic Skills Department of Vance-Granville Community College has scheduled free GED preparation classes at all four of the college’s campuses — the main campus in Vance County, the south campus between Butner and Creedmoor, the Franklin County campus near Loiusburg and the Warren County campus in Warrenton — in response to the current GED test’s expiration at the end of the year. Classes will also be available at several other community sites and online.
Adults who have completed at least one but not all of the current GED test components have until the end of 2013 to complete the remaining components.
Those who do not complete the current test before its expiration will have to complete all four components of the new test series in order to receive their high school equivalency credential.
The new test is scheduled to begin on Jan. 2, 2014. It will have sections on reasoning through language arts, mathematical reasoning, science and social studies.
