Hometown Gospel Celebration is Saturday

Jul. 11, 2014 @ 09:38 AM

The seventh annual Hometown Gospel Celebration will be held Saturday at the Vance-Granville Community College Civic Center. It is free and open to the public.

The doors will open at 4:30 p.m. Hot dogs and concessions will be provided by the Vance County Rescue Squad Auxiliary starting at 5 p.m., and singing will begin at 6 p.m.

The event will include performances by Unashamed, the Landmark Trio, Pastor Frank Sossamon and upcoming 14-year-old gospel singer Jonathan Abbott.

The celebration began in 2008 at the suggestion of Robert Brantley, who sings with Unashamed. The initial concert featured Unashamed, along with the Landmark Quartet and the Faithhearts. It has been held every year since then, even through a storm in 2011 that knocked out power for the concert.
