Tokens of Love scholarship recipients announced

Northern Vance graduate Mel’leeah Robinson and Southern Vance graduate Deon Smith have been named as the Tokens of Love Scholarship Award Program scholarship recipients for 2014.
Each received $500 to use for books and other college needs.
Robinson was active in softball and cheerleading at Southern Vance and was a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, National Technical Honor Society and the National Honor Society. She will attend UNC-Chapel Hill in the fall and plans to major in sports science and pre-medicine. She is the daughter of Teresa Robinson.
Smith was on the football and track and field teams at Southern Vance and was active in the Beta Club and National Honor Society. He will attend Wesleyan University in the fall on a football scholarship, and he plans to major in sports medicine. He is the son of Samuel and Sharon Smith.
The scholarship award program is a component of the Tokens of Love program, a community service initiative sponsored by Marion B. Perry.
