Chamber banquet scheduled for Jan. 31
Beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 31, the 2013 Henderson-Vance County Chamber Annual Membership Meeting and Banquet will take place at the Vance-Granville Community College civic center.
Joseph Carr, CEO of Semprius, designer and manufacturer of the smallest and highest efficiency solar modules in the world, will be the keynote speaker for the evening. Carr was instrumental in the design and innovation of the patented cell technology and state-of-the-art manufacturing processes used by the company. His past postions include chief executive officer for QD Vision, an MIT spinout; president and chief executive officer of OSRAM Opto Semiconductors; and general manager of Dow Chemical Company’s Electronic Materials business. He has also served on the board of directors for Cambridge Display Technology, QD Vision and Plextronics.
Randolph Wilson, winner of the 2011 Citizen of the Year, will present the award to the winner for 2012 during the banquet. Hal Muetzel, chamber of Commerce chairman for 2013, and John Barnes, chamber president, will present the chamber’s annual report and program of work. These reports will highlight accomplishments from the previous year and identify goals for the 2013.
Tickets (at $30 each) for this event include dinner, local entertainment and entry for door prize drawings. Corporate tables (with seats for 10) may be reserved for $280.
