First semester high school exams begin today in Vance County
The high school exam schedule to end the first semester in Vance County Schools has been announced.
First semester exams will be administered at Northern Vance, Southern Vance and Western Vance high schools today and Friday, during the school day. First and third-period exams will be administered today, with second and fourth-period exams administered on Friday. Students will be dismissed at the regular time of 3:15 p.m. each day.
State end-of-course tests in selected courses and VoCats tests in Career and Technical Education courses will be administered at the three high schools Jan. 14-17. Testing will begin at 8 a.m. and will end prior to students being dismissed at 1:30 p.m. each day with lunch provided to students prior to dismissal.
All other schools, including the STEM program at Northern Vance, will operate on a normal schedule each day during the high school exam period.
Make-up exams at Northern Vance, Southern Vance and Western Vance can be done in the afternoon of each testing day with the permission of the teacher and principal. All make-up exams must be completed within 10 days of missed exams.
Jan. 17 is the last day of the first semester of the 2012-2013 school year.
Western Vance High School will hold its mid-year graduation for eligible seniors Jan. 18, at 7 p.m., in the school’s gymnasium.
Jan. 18 is a teacher workday at all schools (except Early College High School). Students will not attend classes that day.
