Forestry and pecan orchard tour on offer

Franklin County will offer an educational forestry and pecan orchard tour May 8.

Participants may register from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. May 8 in the parking lot at 103 S. Bickett Blvd., Louisburg.

In the morning, there will be tours of three forestry management tracts, a tour showcasing hunting lease management opportunities and several interspersed educational programs.

Participants will be asked to carpool to the various sites.

A beef brisket lunch will take place in the annex meeting room at the Franklin County Cooperative Extension Center.

Following lunch, a tour will be held on pecan orchard management with N.C. State University pecan specialist Mike Parker.

There is no attendance fee. Area timber businesses are sponsoring the tours and lunch.
