Granville 5K event set for Saturday

The Granville Health System Foundation will present its second annual Granville 5K Ambulance Chase on Saturday, starting at the Oxford Recreation Complex on East Spring Street in Oxford. Proceeds will go toward the foundation.

Participants can register and pick up packets the day of the event, starting at 7:30 a.m., for $25 per. Alternately, anyone may pre-register for $20 by visiting ghs5K.org. Those pre-registering for the Kids Dash may do so for $10 with no late fee.

Event times are as follows:

• 9 a.m. — 5K Competitive Race will be run along a certified 5K course

• 9:10 a.m. — 5K Fun Run will commence (this event has been added those year for people who wish to participate but not necessarily compete)

• 10 a.m. — 1-Mile Family Walk begins

• 10:30 a.m. — 100-Yard Kids Dash begins (this event will actually take place on the football field at Hix Gym; medals will be awarded to all participants; top male and female participants will each receive a trophy)
