Auditions for musical begin July 25
Granville Little Theater is holding auditions July 25 and July 26 for the musical “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.”
Auditions are open to anyone 15 years old or older. They will begin at 7 p.m. each day in the Oxford City Hall Auditorium.
The play takes place in Ancient Rome, where the slave Pseudolus tries to win the hand of the prostitute Philia for his master Hero in exchange for his freedom. It features music from Stephen Sondheim, an American composer and lyricist with an Academy Award, eight Tony Awards, eight Grammy Awards, a Pulitzer Price and the Laurence Olivier Award under his belt.
Maria Hurst will serve as director. Hurst has more than 30 years experience in theatre, including a 15-year stint managing Lakeland Theatre in Littleton.
Those auditioning should prepare a song of their choice from a musical. They should also come prepared with a monologue and wear comfortable clothing appropriate for movement.
