Jul. 11, 2014 @ 09:37 AM

Vance-Granville Community College will hold a breakfast workshop Wednesday designed to inspire adults 50 years and older to pursue higher education.

The event is open to students currently enrolled at the college as well as others considering returning to education.

The breakfast will begin in the civic center on the college’s Vance County campus at 8:30 a.m. with a welcome table and coffee.

The workshop, entitled “Over 50 and Going Back to School, What a Great Idea!” will be from 9 to 10 a.m.

Mike Collins will be the speaker. Collins is the president of The Perfect Workday Company in Raleigh. He has led several seminars and workshops at the college.

The breakfast and workshop were funded by a grant from the American Association of Community Colleges Plus 50 Encore Completion Program, a national effort to train 10,000 baby boomers for jobs in healthcare, education and social services.

Though the event is free, registration is required.
